Balham Based Boiler Repairs, Replacements & Installations

Boilers are an expensive investment, so it is important to choose the right one. Before buying one, you should consider the type of boiler that is most appropriate, the best boiler manufacturer, and the most appropriate location to place the new boiler.

  • Boiler Type

This is the most important thing to consider when you want to install a boiler in your home. You can determine most of this from what you already have in place although it does not mean you can’t still make a change.

  • Conventional Boiler

Conventional boilers are better suited for homes where there is already a cold-water storage tank in the loft, a hot water cylinder, or an old radiator system is used in the house. The old radiator system might not be able to cope with the high-water pressure that comes with the installation of the combination and system boilers. Also, they are perfect for homes where the demand for hot water is high (homes with two or more bathroom or larger families).

  • System Boiler

These types of boilers are suitable for homes where there is a hot water cylinder in place and there is not enough space in the loft to accommodate a cold-water storage tank. Just like conventional boilers, system boilers are also ideal for homes with a high demand for hot water and that have more than one bathroom. We often consider system boilers as the economical option.

  • Combination Boiler

Combination boilers are perfect for households with limited storage space. They are smaller and they work by heating the water from the mains directly as soon as the water source is turned on (toilet, tap, shower, etc.). These are perhaps the most ideal for homes with low water requirements.

Signs of a Boiler Breakdown

Sometimes it is obvious your boiler needs attention while other times it may act up long before you need to use it. We can get our heating engineers to your property in a timely manner to help prevent you from suffering the cold temperatures. We like to inform our customers of the signs they need to look out for in their boiler that might show there is a problem with the way it is running. This will give our experts enough time to come to your home for a repair before there are any major issues. Here are some of the most obvious and common signs your boilers need repair works.

  • Evidence of Corrosion

Evidence of corrosion in the boiler is not a good sign. It can be caused by prior leaks that run onto different components damaging them. It is an issue that needs to be dealt as soon as possible to prevent further damage and disruption.

  • Strange Rumbling Noises from the Boiler

A boiler is not meant to make any strange sound and in fact, it should not make any sound at all. If you start to notice any funny sounds coming from your boiler, you should call for our services immediately. Pinging sounds, banging sounds, or any other sounds may be a sign your boiler has issues and needs attention right away. Boiler & Cylinder service

An annual service of your boiler is essential to maximise the life span of your boiler and cylinder. As always, we deal with all systems and brands, that thorough check could save you from future problems.
Boilers manufactured after 2007 are of the condensing type and only require a full service if the checks indicate a problem. These checks include:
• Cleaning the magnetic filter and condense trap.
• Checking Carbon monoxide levels
• Checking Carbon Dioxide levels

At the end of the job we will provide you with a gas safety certificate (CP12). It is a legal requirement for the Landlord to provide this to tenants. We also strongly recommend this service to every homeowner. On newer boilers an annual service will also keep your boiler warranty valid. This will allow you to call in the manufacturer with most spare parts being supplied for free.

The safety of our customers is paramount, we always recommend you have a carbon monoxide alarm fitted. Carbon monoxide kills 50 people a year, so we strongly recommend any appliances producing fumes to have an alarm fitted.

We service- Worcester, Ideal, Vaillant, Baxi, Potterton, Viessmann, Glow-worm and more.
